Victoria Hoobyar, MS, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
(650) 363-0249/vikki@vikkihoobyar.com
Background:
As a professionally trained psychotherapist (Masters Degree in Counseling from California State University, Hayward), and NLP (brief therapy) practitioner, Vikki has combined the two to create a theoretical and technical model for helping the bereaved through the process of recovery.
Vikki (Probst) Hoobyar personally experienced spousal suicide in 1989 and understands the issues that traumatic death survivors face after such a sudden and shocking loss. For her graduate thesis project Vikki authored "A New Model of Group Therapy for Suicide Survivors©" and "The Grief Resolution Guidebook for Adults Recovering from the Suicide or Traumatic Death of a Loved One©," in which she combined extensive research with personal experience and the brief therapy techniques of NLP. Vikki’s publications are the outgrowth of study and personal experience.
As a counselor, Vikki has the added benefit of maturity and personal experience. Having raised two sons alone as a widowed, working mother and student, she understands the challenges many people face.
